Description of the breeding environment

Breeding conditions
The horses are bred and raised at la Salvetat
Peyralès, in the Aveyron département, on a 40-hectare farm
in the Ségala district, on well-kept, naturally fertilised meadows
and pastures.

To
preserve the hardiness and endurance of our horses, we also have a further
1000-hectares of rangelands located on the causses, the limestone plateaux
at the foot of the Mont Aigoual.

Our
horses alternate between these pastures where they graze freely
and those of the Ségala where they are given supplementary feed.
It is indeed our belief that the best way of building up the qualities of
our horses is by the biodiversity of the flora.

Preparing the horses for competitive endurance
We
break in our foals ourselves when they reach the age of 3 or 4 depending
on their maturity.
Between
the ages of 5 and 6, the horses are taken out on
the trail rides we organise.
Specific training for endurance begins at the
age of 6.
To
develop their
endurance
skills, the steep gradients of the Viaur Valley are ideal.
In addition, we take our horses to the sandy
beaches of Saintes Maries de la Mer for workouts at a canter.
We then qualify all our horses in competitive
rides suited to their age.
Our best performers are then entrusted to high
level riders, in particular Jean-Philippe Francès, World Endurance
Champion by team in 2002.
See the complete list of performers that were bred at our stud.
